nicht nur in der schweiz, auch hier in bkk ist heute ein heisser urnengang angesagt, gelb und rot streiten sich um bkk's governeur's sitz. zum glück haben sich die wogen ein bisschen geglättet zwischen den noch vor kurzer zeit sich prüglenden gruppierungen, keine ausschreitungen, es gaht alles ziemlich gesittet vonstatten… aber lassen wir politik politik sein, und wenden uns historischen begebenheiten zu:
im isan findet man vereinzelt ruinen und recht gut erhaltene tempelanlagen von den khmer, aus dem 11.jahrhundert, welche noch stark vom hinduismus geprägt sind, aber gerade in dieser periode mehr und mehr zum buddhismus gefunden haben. so findet man auch heute noch in nicht wenigen tempeln im isan schreine für verschiedene hinduistische gottheiten, oder zumindest anzeichen, symbole und rituale, die ihren platz in der religion beibehalten haben und den heutigen thailändischen buddhismus mitgeprägt haben. nachdem wir die anlage in phimai, unweit vom elternhaus entfernt, schon öfters besucht haben, heute mal ein visueller trip zur anderen grossen und bekannten anlage ganz im stile vom bekannteren 'angkor wat' in kambodscha. 'prasat phanom rung' bei buriram, wurde auf einem kleinen hügel vulkanischen ursprungs erbaut, mitten in einem endlosen flachland. was den ort noch um einiges reizvoller macht…
langer worte kurzer sinn: geniesst die sonntägliche stimmung, und macht mit uns die zeitreise, tausend jahre zurück, ins reich der 'khmer'…

the introducing words will be understood just in switzerland, we have an important voting day today, against the too big salaries of managers, to limit their greedy robbery… ;-) and even in bangkok, there's a hot election day, for bkk's governor's seat, for which the 'reds' and the 'yellows' fight… but the situation cooled down meanwhile, they stopped to fight with 'heavy weapons' anymore, and the streets are safe… but, enough of politics, lets move our views to more beautiful things...
in isan you can find, here or there, ruins and still good preservated temples and buildings from the 'khmer', from a period from the 11th century. still strongly influenced by hinduism, they just moved more and more to buddhism in this time. because of this sources, you'll still find in today's buddhist temples some sacred places dedicated to recent hinduistic gods, and as well there are still signs and rituals influenced by, in today's thai buddhism practising. the last years we often visited the builings of 'phimai', not far from our house. so for today i wanna present you some deeper views into another beautiful place, in the typical style of the much better known 'angkor wat' in cambodia. 'prasat phanom rung' near buriram, was built on a small vulcanic hill, in the midst of thousand of square kilometeres of flat (rice) land, what supportes this place's attractivity much…
